The writing is wonderful and the story is told with a dry wit and satire that made this seem more like Lemony Snicket than Mary Poppins. Nanny P is not a good role model. She teaches her young charges things such as the fine art of signature forgery, theft, and property destruction. This is all couched in a fine humor and perhaps a lesson or two about valuing childhood for what it is, and recognizing that sometimes cockroach races can be even more important than long division. According to Nanny P, we never want to be caught doing something bad because that could lead to being "in trouble", and trouble is always a place where there is never any chocolate. Now if that's not an important life lesson, then I don't know what is.
